Appliance down in South Florida right now?
Same-day slots are set first thing in the morning. Diagnostic is 99 dollars and it comes off the bill when you approve the repair.
Half of everything we do in South Florida is cooling
Group our paid visits into what the appliance is actually for, and South Florida stops looking like a normal appliance repair market. 48.3 percent of the machines we are called out to here are refrigerators, freezers or ice makers. In Charlotte the same figure is 36.4 percent.
| Metro | Cooling | Laundry | Dishwasher | Cooking |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| South Florida | 48.3 percent | 22.7 percent | 14.7 percent | 14.2 percent |
| Tampa Bay | 44.3 percent | 34.6 percent | 12.9 percent | 8.3 percent |
| Jacksonville | 40.8 percent | 34.2 percent | 14.2 percent | 10.8 percent |
| Atlanta | 39.7 percent | 29.6 percent | 18.3 percent | 12.4 percent |
| Charlotte | 36.4 percent | 34.9 percent | 17.5 percent | 11.2 percent |
Read that column top to bottom and it falls in order, from the southernmost market to the northernmost, with no exceptions. Put the same thing another way: in South Florida we are called out to a refrigerator 2.86 times for every washer. In Tampa Bay the ratio is 1.65 to one, in Atlanta 1.59, in Jacksonville 1.55 and in Charlotte 1.35.
The likely reading. A refrigerator in Miami works against an eighty-degree kitchen and heavy humidity twelve months a year, where the same unit in Charlotte gets a real off-season. Compressors run longer duty cycles, condenser fans run more hours, and moisture load on the defrost system never lets up.
A clean five-market gradient that follows the climate from south to north is about as strong as a pattern in repair records gets.
The practical consequence is that the most valuable maintenance in this region is also the most boring: vacuum the condenser coils twice a year. Coils packed with dust and pet hair in a hot kitchen are the single most common preventable cause of the failures we are called out for here.
Broward is the biggest part of this market, not Miami-Dade
The hub is called Miami because that is what people search, and our work reaches well beyond the city limits. Nearly half of our South Florida calls are in Broward County.
| County | Service calls | Share | Median repair |
|---|---|---|---|
| Broward: Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Pembroke Pines, Pompano Beach, Coral Springs, Miramar, Davie, Plantation, Sunrise, Weston | 5,938 | 49.6 percent | 382 dollars |
| Miami-Dade: Miami, Miami Beach, Hialeah, Aventura, Coral Gables, Doral, Kendall, North Miami, Sunny Isles Beach | 3,572 | 29.8 percent | 373 dollars |
| Palm Beach: Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, West Palm Beach, Wellington, Greenacres | 2,143 | 17.9 percent | 385 dollars |
The three counties are within twelve dollars of each other on the median repair, so there is no cheap county and no expensive one. Fort Lauderdale alone is 1,002 calls and Boca Raton 738, which puts both ahead of every South Florida community except Miami itself at 1,711.
Why a door gasket job in South Florida is a bigger job
One component stands out in the South Florida numbers. Across 48 local door gasket and door seal replacements the median total is 521 dollars.
| Component replaced | Median total | Repairs measured |
|---|---|---|
| Thermostat or temperature sensor | 365 dollars | 71 |
| Heating element | 375 dollars | 120 |
| Drain pump | 375 dollars | 102 |
| Shock absorbers or suspension | 375 dollars | 63 |
| Defrost heater or timer | 388 dollars | 132 |
| Evaporator or condenser fan motor | 447 dollars | 31 |
| Control board | 455 dollars | 136 |
| Door gasket or seal | 521 dollars | 48 |
We checked the obvious explanation first and it does not hold: none of those 48 jobs was on a Sub-Zero, Viking, Thermador or other premium built-in, so this is not a luxury-appliance effect. What it looks like instead is a humidity effect on the job rather than on the part.
A gasket that has been failing in this climate has usually been letting warm wet air into the cabinet for months, so the visit tends to include a defrost system that has been fighting the leak and iced up behind the panel. The upper quarter of these jobs runs past 809 dollars, which is where those combined repairs sit.
What to do about it. Tell us if the door seal feels loose when you book. The technician runs a dollar bill test along the whole gasket: close the door on the bill and pull, and if it slides out with no resistance, the seal is gone on that section.
Caught at that stage it is a gasket job. Left for another season in this climate, it becomes a gasket job plus a defrost job.
What breaks in South Florida, and what it costs
| Appliance | Paid visits | Repairs completed | Median repair |
|---|---|---|---|
| Refrigerator | 1,519 | 980 | 398 dollars |
| Washer | 532 | 279 | 386 dollars |
| Dishwasher | 499 | 272 | 345 dollars |
| Oven and range | 418 | 219 | 390 dollars |
| Dryer | 236 | 205 | 361 dollars |
| Freezer | 63 | 39 | 414 dollars |
| Ice maker | 46 | 29 | 431 dollars |
Each of these machines has its own Miami page, with the component prices, the faults we see most and the questions people ask about that appliance: refrigerator repair in Miami, washer repair in Miami, dryer repair in Miami, dishwasher repair in Miami, oven and range repair in Miami, cooktop repair in Miami, ice maker and freezer repair in Miami. This page is the overview for South Florida; the appliance pages carry the detail.
The overall median South Florida repair is 377 dollars with a middle half from 315 to 467, across our South Florida paid visits.
When a household genuinely needs the machine back that day, what matters is how fast we can get there, and dryers are the clearest case of it.
Where the ZIP code matters
Among the 74 South Florida ZIP codes where we have at least 30 measured repairs, medians run from 342 dollars in 33186 (Miami) to 448 dollars in 33316 (Fort Lauderdale), a factor of 1.31.
The expensive end is coastal and built-in: 33316, 33140 Miami Beach at 443, 33330 in Davie, Cooper City and Southwest Ranches at 417, 33317 Plantation at 415, 33304 in Fort Lauderdale at 414 and 33141 Miami Beach at 412.
The cheaper end runs inland and newer: 33186 in Miami, 33179, 33161 in North Miami, 33160 in Sunny Isles Beach and Aventura, 33015 in Hialeah and 33313 in Lauderhill, all between 342 and 354 dollars.
The only market where Samsung leads
South Florida is the one metro in our data where Samsung is clearly the most-serviced brand, at 25.9 percent of branded calls. Whirlpool follows at 21.6, GE at 18.1, Frigidaire at 11.9, Maytag at 6.1, LG at 4.2 and Bosch at 3.1 percent. Everywhere else we work, Whirlpool leads.
Read this correctly. These are shares of the repairs we are dispatched on, which follow how many of each brand are installed in local homes and how those homes were furnished, not how reliable the brands are. A brand that sells more units generates more service calls even when it fails less often.
We do not publish reliability rankings from our own call volume, and neither should anyone quoting this table.

South Florida appliance repair questions, answered with our own numbers
How much does appliance repair cost in Miami?
Across 5,218 completed South Florida repairs where a part was replaced, the median total was 377 dollars, covering the part, the labor and the service call together. A quarter came in under 315 dollars and a quarter ran above 467. The 99 dollar diagnostic comes off that total when you approve the repair.
Why are refrigerator repairs so common in South Florida?
Because the climate never lets the machine rest. 48.3 percent of the appliances we are called out to in South Florida are refrigerators, freezers or ice makers, against 36.4 percent in Charlotte, and we are dispatched to a refrigerator 2.86 times for every washer here compared with 1.35 to one in Charlotte.
Compressors run longer duty cycles, condenser fans run more hours and the defrost system fights humidity year round. Clearing the condenser coils twice a year is the cheapest thing a South Florida household can do about it.
Do you cover Fort Lauderdale and Broward County?
Yes, and Broward is the largest part of this market for us. 5,938 of our 11,979 South Florida calls, 49.6 percent, are in Broward County, against 29.8 percent in Miami-Dade and 17.9 percent in Palm Beach. Fort Lauderdale on its own is 1,002 calls, second only to Miami. The median repair sits within twelve dollars across all three counties, so there is no cheap county and no expensive one.
What does a refrigerator door gasket repair cost in Miami?
Across 48 local gasket replacements the median total is 521 dollars. It is not a luxury-appliance effect: none of those 48 jobs was on a premium built-in unit.
A gasket failing in this climate has usually been letting warm humid air into the cabinet for months, so the visit often includes a defrost system that has iced up fighting the leak. The upper quarter of these jobs runs past 809 dollars.
How can I tell if my refrigerator door seal has failed?
Close the door on a dollar bill and pull it out. If it slides free with no resistance, the seal is gone along that section. Test several points around the door, since gaskets usually fail in one stretch first, most often at the hinge side or the bottom corner. Tell us which section when you book.
Caught early it is a gasket job. Left another season in South Florida it becomes a gasket job plus a defrost job.
Which appliance do households want back fastest in South Florida?
The dryer. A dead dryer stops the laundry that day with no substitute in the house, so households want it back immediately.
Which South Florida areas have the most expensive repairs?
The coastal and built-in ZIP codes: 33316 in Fort Lauderdale at a 448 dollar median, 33140 in Miami Beach at 443, 33330 in Davie and Southwest Ranches at 417, 33317 in Plantation at 415, 33304 in Fort Lauderdale at 414 and 33141 in Miami Beach at 412.
The lower end runs inland and newer, from 342 dollars in 33186 in Miami through the low 350s in 33179, 33161, 33160, 33015 and 33313.
Can you come out the same day in Miami?
Often. Across 11,669 South Florida calls with a scheduled visit, 24.2 percent were seen the same day and 51.6 percent within 24 hours. Same-day slots are set in the morning, so calling early in the day matters. Call (305) 517-5382 and ask for the first open window.
Which appliance brands do you service most in South Florida?
Samsung at 25.9 percent of branded calls, which makes South Florida the only market we serve where Samsung leads rather than Whirlpool. Whirlpool follows at 21.6, GE at 18.1, Frigidaire at 11.9, Maytag at 6.1, LG at 4.2 and Bosch at 3.1 percent.
These are shares of the calls we are dispatched on, which follow how many of each brand are installed in local homes. They are not a reliability ranking and should not be quoted as one.
Which South Florida areas do you cover?
We have completed work in 104 communities and 171 ZIP codes across three counties. Miami-Dade including Miami, Miami Beach, Hialeah, Aventura, Coral Gables, Doral, Kendall, Sunny Isles Beach and North Miami. Broward including Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Pembroke Pines, Pompano Beach, Coral Springs, Miramar, Davie, Plantation, Sunrise, Weston and Parkland. Palm Beach including Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, West Palm Beach, Wellington and Greenacres.
What does the 99 dollar diagnostic include?
A technician comes out, puts a meter on the machine, identifies the failed component and quotes the total before any work starts. Approve the repair and the 99 dollars comes off that total, so the diagnosis costs you nothing. What the fee buys either way is a tested answer rather than a guess: the exact part, a firm number that does not grow, and the lead time to get it.
Stacked washer-dryer units and double wall ovens are 150 dollars because they have to be pulled to be tested. Completed repairs carry a 90-day parts and labor warranty.
