Samsung Appliance Repair
One repair defines Samsung in our records, and it is the dryer heating element. We have replaced it 138 times, more than any other single component on any brand in our data, at a median of $375 complete. See also Samsung refrigerator repair costs in detail. See also Samsung washer repair costs and error codes. See also Samsung dryer repair costs and the no heat pattern.
Behind it sits the reason: no heat and clothes not drying is 11.9% of every Samsung visit we take, 707 of 5,960 — the largest single symptom share of any brand we service.
Samsung is also the dryer brand we are called to most often across our whole book. If you own a Samsung and something is wrong, the odds it involves heat are higher than for anything else in the kitchen or laundry room.
Samsung by appliance
| Samsung category | Median repair | Middle half | Repairs | Approved |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Refrigerator | $404 | $330–494 | 818 | 66.4% |
| Ice maker | $413 | $363–489 | 45 | 71.4% |
| Freezer | $395 | $340–485 | 25 | 62.5% |
| Oven and range | $381 | $310–453 | 164 | 61.2% |
| Washer | $379 | $325–450 | 595 | 61.3% |
| Dryer | $365 | $311–425 | 412 | 82.4% |
| Dishwasher | $333 | $270–391 | 132 | 50.6% |
| All Samsung repairs | $375 | $311–450 | 2,878 | 65.5% |
Three quarters of Samsung work is refrigeration and laundry: refrigerators 28.2% of visits, washers 21.9%, dryers 10.8%.
The dishwasher is a small part of the brand for us at 6.1%, and it is the one category where owners more often replace than repair — approval there is 50.6%, the lowest of any Samsung category and the lowest dishwasher figure of any brand we hold volume on. That is worth knowing before you spend on a diagnosis.
Heat: the repair we do most
The heating element accounts for 138 of our completed Samsung repairs at a $375 median, with the middle half between $319 and $429. Alongside it sit thermostats and sensors at $380 across 65 repairs, which is the same circuit approached from the other end — a Samsung dryer that has stopped heating is usually an element, a thermostat, a thermal cut-out, or the vent that killed one of them.
The mechanical side of a Samsung dryer is unremarkable and cheap: drum rollers and idlers at $349 across 47 repairs, drive belts at $320 across 33, drive motors at $387.
The whole category has a middle half of $311 to $425, which is why 82.4% of quoted Samsung dryer repairs are approved — the number is predictable and small against a replacement. Our national guide on a dryer that has stopped heating covers the sequence in detail.
Refrigeration: ice first, cooling second
Samsung refrigerators are 28.2% of the brand’s work and the dearest category at $404. Two threads run through them. The first is ice: 440 Samsung visits mention the ice maker, 7.4% of the brand, and where a part was replaced the median came to $441 — the highest figure attached to any Samsung symptom.
Samsung ice systems sit inside the fresh-food compartment on many French-door models, which puts the maker where warm air reaches it, and the failure mode people describe is always the same: frost creeping over the assembly, then no ice. That is a mechanism, not an opinion, and we wrote it up separately in Samsung refrigerator ice maker problems, which is the page to read if that is your fault.
The second is cooling: 588 visits, $390 median. Defrost circuits at $404 across 56 repairs and evaporator or condenser fans at $423 across 22 are the common findings; compressors appear on 18 repairs with a $420 median but a wide spread from $321 to $826. Frost build-up is a named complaint on 124 visits with a $390 median.
The washer bearing question, answered with our own numbers
Search for Samsung washer problems and you will find a great deal written about tub bearings. Our data does not support treating that as a likely diagnosis.
Across our records a tub bearing replacement occurs roughly once in every 718 jobs, and in Florida we have not done one at all. It is a real failure and it exists, but it is not what is wrong with your machine on the balance of probability, and no one should be quoted for one without the machine being opened and the fault demonstrated.
What we actually replace on Samsung washers is the suspension: 74 shock, damper and suspension repairs at a $354 median, which is the true answer to most banging, walking and out-of-balance complaints. After that come drain pumps at $363 across 45 repairs, drive motors at $387, and control boards at $492 across 39.
Noise is named on 499 Samsung visits and the honest thing to say is that most of it is suspension and most of it is around $354, not a teardown.
What fails on Samsung, with prices
Samsung is one of the brands where we hold enough volume to price components rather than categories. Every row rests on at least fifteen completed repairs, and each is the complete bill: part, labour and the service call together.
| Component replaced | Median repair | Middle half | Repairs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Drive belt | $320 | $285–360 | 33 |
| Igniter | $325 | $295–383 | 35 |
| Water inlet valve | $341 | $310–388 | 28 |
| Drum roller or idler | $349 | $290–438 | 47 |
| Suspension, shocks or dampers | $354 | $325–388 | 74 |
| Drain pump | $363 | $340–398 | 45 |
| Detergent dispenser | $368 | $297–439 | 24 |
| Heating element | $375 | $319–429 | 138 |
| Thermostat or sensor | $380 | $335–470 | 65 |
| Drive motor | $387 | $359–489 | 46 |
| Defrost heater or timer | $404 | $346–499 | 56 |
| Door gasket or boot seal | $405 | $318–491 | 18 |
| Compressor | $420 | $321–826 | 18 |
| Evaporator or condenser fan | $423 | $368–495 | 22 |
| Control board | $492 | $359–594 | 39 |
Two observations. The board at $492 is the dearest routine Samsung repair and it is not common — 39 of 2,878 repairs, well behind the heating element at 138 and the suspension at 74. And the whole brand is compressed: only 0.5% of Samsung repairs exceed $1,000 and the largest in our records is $1,783, which is a flatter distribution than GE or LG.
A Samsung quote rarely surprises anyone. Component pricing across 46 parts and 29,315 repairs, all brands, is on our repair cost by part page.
On the laundry side the two complaints we separate first are a drum that will not spin and a tub that will not empty: Samsung washer not spinning and Samsung washer not draining.
Fault codes on Samsung
Samsung shows short alphanumeric codes and they are among the more readable in the industry: codes beginning with a 4 or 5 relate to water in and water out, tE points at temperature sensing, dE at the door, and a code that appears mid-cycle on a washer more often names a condition — an unbalanced load, a slow fill, a blocked drain — than a failed part.
Two practical notes. A code is a circuit, not a component: a drain code can be the pump, the hose, the filter, or a sock. And a Samsung code should be read against the fault table for your model number, because the same string can carry different meanings across generations.
Samsung visits that quoted a code of any kind ran to a $379 median across 286 completed repairs, effectively identical to the brand median of $375, which tells you a code on this brand is not by itself a sign of an expensive fault.
What brings us out on a Samsung
| Reported problem | Median repair | Visits | Share |
|---|---|---|---|
| No heat, clothes not drying | $361 | 707 | 11.9% |
| Refrigerator not cooling | $390 | 588 | 9.9% |
| Error code displayed | $379 | 588 | 9.9% |
| Noise, banging or walking | $375 | 499 | 8.4% |
| Ice maker | $441 | 440 | 7.4% |
| Something is leaking | $375 | 423 | 7.1% |
| Washer will not spin | $352 | 246 | 4.1% |
| Will not drain | $365 | 222 | 3.7% |
| Frost or freezing up | $390 | 124 | 2.1% |
Shares do not add to 100% because a booking can name several problems and many name none beyond the brand and the appliance.
Where Samsung costs land
Median $375, middle half $311 to $450, across 2,878 completed repairs. Against the twelve brands we track that is above GE at $355 and Whirlpool at $348, below LG at $397 and KitchenAid at $427. The full table is on our repair cost by brand page, and why owners approve some brands more than others is on the approval rate page.
The visit is $99, applied to the repair when you approve it, $150 on stacked laundry and double wall ovens because they have to be separated to be reached. You get a firm price for the whole job before any work begins. Terms are on the pricing page. Five in six Samsung visits are in Florida and Georgia.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Samsung appliance repair cost?
A median of $375 across 2,878 completed Samsung repairs, with the middle half between $311 and $450. By appliance: refrigerator $404, washer $379, oven and range $381, dryer $365, dishwasher $333. Only 0.5% of Samsung repairs exceed $1,000. Prices include the part, the labour and the service call together, and the $99 diagnostic comes off the repair when you approve it.
Why is my Samsung dryer not heating?
It is the most common Samsung fault we attend, named on 707 visits. The heating element is our most replaced Samsung component at 138 repairs and a $375 median, with thermostats and sensors close behind at $380. Clear the vent run first: a restricted vent is what cooks elements and thermostats, and replacing the element without dealing with the vent means buying the same repair twice.
Is my noisy Samsung washer a bad bearing?
Probably not. In our records a tub bearing replacement happens about once in every 718 jobs, and we have done none at all in Florida. What we replace on noisy Samsung washers is the suspension: 74 shock and damper repairs at a $354 median.
Suspension noise arrives with the spin and often comes with the machine moving; bearing noise is a metallic roar you can provoke by turning the empty drum by hand. Nobody should be quoted for a bearing without the fault being demonstrated.
Why does my Samsung refrigerator stop making ice?
Ice is named on 440 Samsung visits, 7.4% of the brand, and where a part was replaced the median is $441. The pattern people describe is consistent: frost creeps over the ice compartment and output falls away before it stops.
The mechanism and what can be done about it are covered on our Samsung refrigerator ice maker problems page. Before booking, look for frost around the assembly rather than assuming the maker itself has failed.
Is a Samsung dishwasher worth repairing?
It is the one Samsung category where owners more often say no: approval runs at 50.6%, the lowest of any Samsung category and the lowest dishwasher figure of any brand we hold volume on. The repair itself is cheap at a $333 median. Dishwashers are only 6.1% of our Samsung work, so we see fewer of them than of the refrigerators and laundry.
How much is a Samsung control board?
Our median Samsung control board repair is $492 complete, with the middle half between $359 and $594, across 39 repairs. It is the dearest routine Samsung repair but not a common one: the heating element at 138 repairs and the suspension at 74 are both replaced far more often. Sensors, connectors and the load the board drives should be checked before a board is condemned.
Are you an authorised Samsung service centre?
No. Bozmanfix is an independent appliance repair company and is not affiliated with, authorised by or endorsed by Samsung Electronics. Our own record on the brand is 5,960 Samsung service visits across six states. If your appliance is still inside its factory warranty, contact Samsung first, because warranty work should go through their network.
Samsung not heating, not cooling, not quiet?
On this brand most faults land in a narrow band and the diagnosis is quick. The $99 diagnostic tells you what it is before you commit to anything, and it comes off the repair when you approve it.
