Frigidaire Appliance Repair

🟢 3,013 Frigidaire service visits 📍 FL · GA · TX · NC · PA · SC 🧊 Half the brand is refrigeration 💰 $99 diagnostic, applied to the repair

Frigidaire arrives at our door colder than any other brand. Refrigerators are 47.5% of the 3,013 Frigidaire visits we have taken and freezers another 4.8%, so more than half of everything we do on this badge is refrigeration — a higher concentration than Samsung, GE or Whirlpool.

The second fact is the one worth planning around: the Frigidaire dishwasher is the cheapest dishwasher we repair at a $305 median, and it is also the one owners most often decide not to repair, approving at 52.3%. Cheap to fix and still refused. That combination says something specific, and it is not about the repair.

The whole brand is compressed into $305 to $378 — a $73 spread from the cheapest category to the dearest, the tightest of any brand we hold volume on. Only 0.8% of Frigidaire repairs exceed $1,000. If you own one, the useful thing to know is that the number at the end of the diagnosis is unlikely to shock you regardless of which appliance broke.

The cheap dishwasher problem

Here is the clearest example in our whole data set of why repair price does not decide anything. The Frigidaire dishwasher is the cheapest dishwasher we repair: $305 median, middle half $267 to $355, against $328 across all dishwasher brands and $372 on KitchenAid. And it has the lowest approval rate of any Frigidaire category at 52.3% — barely half of quoted repairs go ahead.

The reason is arithmetic that has nothing to do with us. Frigidaire sells at the accessible end of the market, so the machine standing in the kitchen did not cost a great deal to begin with, and a $305 repair sits close enough to a replacement to make the decision genuinely open. On a Bosch or a KitchenAid the same $305 would be an obvious yes.

💡 The honest version of this advice. If the fault is a drain pump, an inlet valve or a latch on a machine under about six years old, the repair is the better buy — those are the parts that fail first and the rest of the machine is nowhere near its end. If the machine is older and the fault is the control board, you are spending a large fraction of a replacement to keep something with more failures ahead of it, and we will tell you so on the visit. This is the same relationship we measured across every brand and appliance: what drives the decision is the cost of replacement, not the cost of the repair.

That is also the fault we are called out to most on the brand. Frigidaire dishwasher not draining works through the drain path end to end before any part is ordered.

Refrigeration: the brand’s centre

A Frigidaire refrigerator not cooling is the largest single thing we do on this brand: 554 visits, 18.4% of all Frigidaire work, median repair $371. What we find is dominated by the defrost circuit — 49 defrost heater and timer repairs at a $364 median, more than double the count of any other refrigeration component here.

Frost build-up appears as a named complaint on 77 visits at $365, and it is the same fault caught at a different stage.

Compressors do appear, 22 of them at a $387 median, and that number is worth holding next to LG’s $672 on the same repair. A Frigidaire sealed system is a conventional one and the parts are inexpensive, so even the worst case on this brand is rarely a four-figure conversation.

The other refrigeration signature here is water. Leaks are named on 371 Frigidaire visits, 12.3% of the brand — the highest leak share of any brand we service — at a $317 median, which is one of the cheapest symptom medians anywhere in our data.

Most of those are inlet valves at $380, door gaskets at $392, and blocked defrost drains that put water on the floor rather than down the tube. Cheap to fix, and worth fixing early: water sitting under a machine finds the floor, the cabinet and eventually the electronics.

Ice is the other recurring Frigidaire complaint. Frigidaire ice maker not working separates the water side from the temperature side, which is what decides whether this is a free fix or a module.

What fails on Frigidaire, with prices

Every row rests on at least fifteen completed repairs and is the complete bill: part, labour and the service call together.

Component replacedMedian repairMiddle halfRepairs
Igniter$328$303–35923

Drive motor$395$338–43631
Suspension or shocks$417$400–45625
Control board$495$392–60335

Two rows stand out. The dispenser at 53 repairs is the most replaced single component on this brand, which is unusual — on most brands the leader is a board, a heating element or a pump.

And the control board at $495 is the only Frigidaire repair that reaches the level of a premium brand, which is exactly why it is the one that changes the repair-or-replace answer on an older machine.

Component pricing across 46 parts and 29,315 repairs, all brands, is on our repair cost by part page.

Cooling is the fault we are called out to most on those units. Frigidaire refrigerator not cooling separates a fan or defrost fault from the sealed system before any part is ordered.

Frost or freezing up$365772.6%

Shares do not add to 100% because a booking can name several problems and many name none beyond the brand and the appliance. Note the bottom of the price column: a Frigidaire that will not drain resolves at a $295 median, the cheapest symptom median of any brand and appliance pair in our records.

🔶 What to have ready when you book a Frigidaire. Water on the floor under a refrigerator: check the defrost drain at the back of the freezer floor before assuming a valve or a line has failed, because a drain iced over is the commonest cause and costs nothing to look at. Dishwasher not draining: clear the filter, and if a garbage disposal was fitted recently make sure the installer removed the knockout plug in its dishwasher inlet. Refrigerator not cooling: pull it out, look at the condenser coils and check the condenser fan is turning.

Where Frigidaire costs land

Median $353, middle half $291 to $428, across 1,440 completed repairs, with 0.8% above $1,000. Among the twelve brands we track that puts Frigidaire seventh, effectively level with GE at $355 and Whirlpool at $348 and well below Samsung at $375 and LG at $397. The full comparison is on our repair cost by brand page.

The visit is $99 and comes off the repair when you approve it, $150 on stacked laundry and double wall ovens because they have to be separated to be reached. You get a firm price for the whole job before any work begins. Terms are on the pricing page. Eight in ten Frigidaire visits are in Florida and Georgia.

Methodology Figures come from Bozmanfix’s own job records across Florida, Georgia, Texas, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and South Carolina through August 2026. The Frigidaire set is 3,013 service visits carrying a Frigidaire equipment tag, of which 2,414 were completed and 1,440 involved a replaced part; those 1,440 are the basis for every median. A visit counts as diagnostic-only where the customer paid the diagnostic and no part was replaced, and the approval figure is repairs divided by repairs plus diagnostic-only visits. Medians include the part, the labour and the service call together, which is why they sit well above parts-only prices published elsewhere. Each visit is assigned to one appliance category. Component rows rest on at least fifteen completed repairs each and are identified from the job record, so they undercount rather than overcount. Cross-brand comparisons carry their own denominators and live on our cost by brand and approval rate pages. Service call counts reflect how many of these machines are installed in the homes that call us and how often they call; they are not a reliability ranking and should not be read as one. Bozmanfix is an independent appliance repair company and is not affiliated with, authorised by or endorsed by Electrolux or the Frigidaire brand.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Frigidaire appliance repair cost?

A median of $353 across 1,440 completed Frigidaire repairs, with the middle half between $291 and $428. By appliance: refrigerator $368, washer $374, dryer $370, range $345, freezer $341, dishwasher $305. Only 0.8% of Frigidaire repairs exceed $1,000. Prices include the part, the labour and the service call together, and the $99 diagnostic comes off the repair when you approve it.

Is a Frigidaire dishwasher worth repairing?

It depends on the fault and the age. At a $305 median it is the cheapest dishwasher we repair, but it also has the lowest approval rate of any Frigidaire category at 52.3%, because the machine itself is not expensive to replace. A drain pump, inlet valve or latch on a machine under about six years old is worth fixing.

A control board at $495 on an older machine is a large fraction of a replacement, and we will say so on the visit.

Why is my Frigidaire refrigerator not cooling?

It is the most common Frigidaire call, 554 visits and 18.4% of all Frigidaire work, at a $371 median. The defrost circuit dominates what we find: 49 defrost heater and timer repairs at $364, more than double any other refrigeration component on this brand. Before booking, pull the unit out and check the condenser coils and condenser fan.

Why is my Frigidaire leaking water?

Leaks are named on 371 Frigidaire visits, 12.3% of the brand and the highest leak share of any brand we service, resolving at a $317 median. The usual causes are a defrost drain that has iced over, a water inlet valve at $380 or a door gasket at $392. Check the defrost drain at the back of the freezer floor first, since that one costs nothing to look at.

How much is a Frigidaire compressor?

Our median is $387 across 22 completed Frigidaire compressor repairs, with the middle half between $319 and $447. That is well below the $672 median we record on LG compressors, because a Frigidaire sealed system is conventional and the parts are inexpensive. Even the worst case on this brand is rarely a four-figure conversation.

Do you repair Frigidaire freezers and chest freezers?

Yes. Freezers are 4.8% of our Frigidaire work, 146 visits, with a $341 median repair. Together with refrigerators they make up 52.3% of everything we do on this brand, which is the highest refrigeration concentration of any brand we service.

Are you an authorised Frigidaire service centre?

No. Bozmanfix is an independent appliance repair company and is not affiliated with, authorised by or endorsed by Electrolux or the Frigidaire brand. Our own record on the brand is 3,013 Frigidaire service visits across six states. If your appliance is still inside its factory warranty, contact Frigidaire first, because warranty work should go through their network.

Frigidaire warm, leaking or silent?

On this brand the numbers are small and predictable, and the decision is usually easy once you know what the fault actually is. The $99 diagnostic tells you, and it comes off the repair when you approve it.
