The Chattahoochee River is its only raw water source and the Scott Candler plant, built in 1942 and rebuilt in 2007, is its only treatment works – the county’s own presentation to the Board of Commissioners on 20 June 2024 described that as a double point of failure, alongside 596 miles of small-diameter pipe due for replacement.
