LG Appliance Repair

🟢 1,312 LG service visits 📍 FL · GA · NC · SC · PA · TX 🔧 LG and Whirlpool factory-trained technicians on staff 💰 $99 diagnostic, applied to the repair

LG is the mainstream brand with the longest tail. The median LG repair is $397, which is only $49 above Whirlpool. But 5.2% of LG repairs exceed $1,000 against 0.5% on Whirlpool and Samsung — ten times the rate — and the LG refrigerator at a $445 median is the most expensive mainstream brand and appliance combination in our entire records. Full pricing from real invoices: LG washer error codes.

The typical LG job is ordinary. The unusual one is far less ordinary than on any other volume brand, and the difference is almost entirely refrigeration.

Two appliances are three quarters of the brand

LG comes to us as refrigeration and laundry and very little else. Refrigerators are 42.2% of LG visits and washers 33.4%; dryers add 10.4%, ranges 6.2% and dishwashers 5.0%. That concentration matters because the two big categories behave completely differently once we are inside them.

LG categoryMedian repairMiddle halfRepairsApproved
Refrigerator$445$325–61025563.4%
Oven and range$430$366–5105071.4%
Washer$384$310–46321468.4%
Dryer$360$295–4758578.7%
Dishwasher$316$255–3823368.8%
All LG repairs$397$305–50265367.7%

Look at the middle-half column rather than the medians. The LG refrigerator runs from $325 to $610 between the quartiles — a $285 spread, wider than any other mainstream refrigerator we service. The washer, at $310 to $463, behaves like every other washer on the market. Almost all of the brand’s unpredictability lives in the refrigerator.

Why the LG refrigerator bill splits in two

A refrigerator that has stopped cooling is the single most common thing we are called to on this brand: 234 visits, 17.8% of all LG work, median repair $458. Underneath that, LG refrigeration divides into two very different repairs, and which one you get is the whole question.

The first is everything that is not the sealed system — fans, defrost circuits, sensors, boards, inlet valves, door components. Those land where refrigeration repairs normally land, in the $350 to $500 band, and they are the majority of LG refrigerator work.

The second is the compressor. We have 19 completed LG compressor repairs with a median of $672, and the interesting part is the spread: from $255 at the lower quartile to $1,293 at the upper. A single repair does not normally vary five-fold, and the reason it does here is warranty.

LG has long carried an extended parts warranty on the sealed system, considerably longer than the one-year cover on the rest of the machine, so on many units the compressor itself arrives at no charge and the customer pays labour and refrigerant — the low end of that range.

Where the machine falls outside that cover, the part is on the bill too, and you are at the top of it.

💡 Check the sealed-system warranty before you approve anything. If the diagnosis is the compressor, the age of the unit and its serial number decide whether you are looking at the bottom of that range or the top. That is a call worth making to LG before authorising the work, and it is the single largest sum any LG owner is likely to save on a repair. We wrote up how these failures present and what the symptoms look like in LG linear compressor failure.

This is also why LG refrigerator approval sits at 63.4%, the lowest of any LG category, while the LG dryer runs at 78.7%. It is not that the fridge repair is refused because it costs more on average. It is that the fridge is the one place on this brand where the quote can arrive with four figures on it, and that is a different conversation from a $360 dryer.

What we replace on LG, with prices

LG is a smaller set for us than Samsung or Whirlpool — 1,312 visits against nearly six thousand each — so we hold at least fifteen completed repairs on only three components. We publish those and no others, because a median built on six jobs is a number pretending to be evidence.

Component replacedMedian repairMiddle halfRepairs
Water inlet valve$354$335–38216
Drain pump$388$345–43817
Compressor$672$255–1,29319

For components with real volume across all brands, our repair cost by part data covers 46 components across 29,315 repairs, and the parts on an LG are not exotic — a drain pump is a drain pump. The exception is the sealed system, which is the one place LG genuinely differs, and it has its own section above.

Fault codes on LG

LG is the most code-forward brand we service: 187 LG visits, 14.3% of the brand, mention a fault code at booking, the highest share of any brand in our records including Bosch. LG displays short two-character codes on both laundry and refrigeration, and owners read them off and quote them.

Where a part was replaced on a coded LG visit the median came to $406, a little above the $397 brand median, which is what you would expect from faults involving sensing and electronics rather than a worn belt.

Two cautions apply as they do on every brand: a code names a circuit rather than a part, and the same string can mean different things across model generations, so it should be read against the fault table for your model number rather than a general list found online.

Door or lid$368634.8%

Will not start, no power$412403.0%

Shares do not add to 100% because a booking can name several problems and many name none beyond the brand and the appliance.

🔶 What to have ready when you book an LG. On a refrigerator that is not cooling, listen: if the compressor is silent and the interior fans are silent too, that is a different starting point from a machine that is running constantly and still warm. Pull it out, look at the condenser coils and check the condenser fan is turning. On a washer that will not drain, clear the pump filter behind the lower access panel — LG puts a serviceable one there and it collects everything the pockets did. On a dryer with no heat, clear the vent run first.

Where LG costs land

Median $397, middle half $305 to $502, across 653 completed repairs, with 5.2% above $1,000 and a largest recorded repair of $1,933. Among the twelve brands we track LG is the fourth dearest, behind Thermador, KitchenAid and Electrolux and ahead of every other mainstream name. The full table is on our repair cost by brand page.

The visit is $99, applied to the repair when you approve it, $150 on stacked laundry and double wall ovens because they have to be separated to be reached. You get a firm price for the whole job before any work begins. Terms are on the pricing page. Nearly nine in ten LG visits are in Florida and Georgia, with the rest in the Carolinas and further north.

We keep LG and Whirlpool factory-trained technicians on staff, which on this brand is worth stating plainly: the sealed-system work that produces the top of the LG distribution is not a job for guesswork.

Methodology Figures come from Bozmanfix’s own job records across Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Pennsylvania and Texas through August 2026. The LG set is 1,312 service visits carrying an LG equipment tag, of which 1,028 were completed and 653 involved a replaced part; those 653 are the basis for every median. A visit counts as diagnostic-only where the customer paid the diagnostic and no part was replaced, and the approval figure is repairs divided by repairs plus diagnostic-only visits. Medians include the part, the labour and the service call together, which is why they sit well above parts-only prices published elsewhere; where a sealed-system part is supplied under manufacturer warranty the bill we record is labour and refrigerant only, which is what widens the compressor range. Each visit is assigned to one appliance category. Only three components reach our fifteen-repair minimum on this brand and no others are priced. Cross-brand comparisons carry their own denominators and live on our cost by brand and approval rate pages. Service call counts reflect how many of these machines are installed in the homes that call us and how often they call; they are not a reliability ranking and should not be read as one. Bozmanfix is an independent appliance repair company and is not affiliated with, authorised by or endorsed by LG Electronics.

Frequently asked questions

How much does LG appliance repair cost?

A median of $397 across 653 completed LG repairs, with the middle half between $305 and $502. By appliance: refrigerator $445, oven and range $430, washer $384, dryer $360, dishwasher $316. LG has a longer tail than most mainstream brands, with 5.2% of repairs above $1,000. Prices include the part, the labour and the service call together, and the $99 diagnostic comes off the repair when you approve it.

How much does an LG compressor replacement cost?

Our median is $672 across 19 completed LG compressor repairs, but the middle half runs from $255 to $1,293 and that spread is the important part. LG carries an extended parts warranty on the sealed system that is far longer than the cover on the rest of the machine, so on many units the compressor itself is supplied at no charge and the bill is labour and refrigerant.

Check the serial number and the sealed-system cover with LG before authorising the work; it is the largest single sum an LG owner can save on a repair.

Why is my LG refrigerator not cooling?

It is the most common LG call we take, 234 visits and 17.8% of all LG work, with a $458 median repair. Most of those are not the sealed system: fans, defrost circuits, sensors and boards make up the majority and land in the $350 to $500 band.

Before booking, listen to the machine and check the condenser coils and condenser fan. A unit that is running constantly and still warm is a different starting point from one that is silent.

Is an LG washer worth repairing?

Usually. The median LG washer repair is $384 with the middle half between $310 and $463, which behaves like any other washer on the market, and 68.4% of quoted LG washer repairs are approved. The unpredictability on this brand sits in the refrigerator, not the laundry.

Do you have LG factory-trained technicians?

Yes, we have LG and Whirlpool factory-trained technicians on staff. On LG that matters most for sealed-system work, which is where the top of the brand’s cost distribution sits and where a wrong diagnosis is expensive.

What do LG error codes mean?

LG is the most code-forward brand we service: 14.3% of LG visits quote a code at booking, the highest share of any brand in our records. A code names a circuit rather than a part, and the same string can mean different things across model generations, so it should be read against the fault table for your model number.

Coded LG visits ran to a $406 median repair across 107 completed jobs, close to the $397 brand median.

Are you an authorised LG service centre?

No. Bozmanfix is an independent appliance repair company and is not affiliated with, authorised by or endorsed by LG Electronics. Our own record on the brand is 1,312 LG service visits across six states. If your appliance is still inside its factory warranty, or the fault is in the sealed system and the unit may still carry extended parts cover, contact LG first.

LG refrigerator warm, or a code on the display?

On this brand the diagnosis decides whether you are looking at a $400 repair or a warranty conversation with the manufacturer. The $99 diagnostic tells you which, and it comes off the repair when you approve it.
