Two things separate Peachtree City from the rest of our south-metro list. The first is which appliance costs the most. Why Peachtree City Appliances Break the Way They Do
Peachtree City is not a town that grew, it is a town that was drawn.
Developers assembled more than 12,000 acres of Fayette County in the 1950s, the city was chartered on 9 March 1959, and it was laid out as a set of villages, each with its own schools, shops and recreation, connected by what is now roughly 100 miles of paved cart path used by about 11,000 registered carts.
It is the largest city in Fayette County, 31,580 people in 2000, 34,364 in 2010, 38,244 in 2020, and roughly 25 miles southwest of downtown Atlanta by GA-74 and I-85.
For an appliance technician the planning matters more than the population, because the five villages were built in sequence, which means the city’s kitchens and laundry rooms come in five distinct ages, and the utilities that feed them were drawn on a map rather than inherited from a farm town.
Five villages, five decades of appliances ABERDEEN → WILKSMOOR
Aberdeen and Glenloch on the east side hold the planned-community ranches and colonials of the 1970s and 1980s; Glenloch’s distinctive shed-roof houses date from roughly 1965 to 1985.
Braelinn to the south and Kedron to the north came in the 1990s and 2000s. Wilksmoor, the west village across GA-74, is still being built out toward a planned 2,783 units, with subdivisions like Wilksmoor Woods delivering 3,000-square-foot houses in the last few years.
So on one Peachtree City route we see a Glenloch kitchen on its third refrigerator and second range, a Kedron kitchen where the original 1990s built-in dishwasher and wall oven are finally failing, and a Wilksmoor kitchen where a five-year-old French-door refrigerator has just left warranty. GA-54 is the line between two power companies GEORGIA POWER · EMC
The city’s own resource directory says it plainly: Coweta-Fayette EMC serves the areas generally south of GA Highway 54, and north of GA-54 the power is generally Georgia Power. The EMC is a member-owned cooperative founded in 1945 with its office on Sumner Road in Fayetteville.
The practical effect is that a storm rolling across Fayette County can knock the two halves of Peachtree City out at different times and bring them back at different times, and every hard restart is a stress test for control boards. In February 2025 the EMC alone peaked at roughly 17,000 members without power.

Peachtree City does not run its own water plant. The potable supply is owned and operated by the Fayette County Water System, which draws from four reservoirs, Lake Kedron, Lake Peachtree, Lake McIntosh and Lake Horton, and treats it at the Crosstown plant, 13.5 million gallons a day, and the South Fayette plant, 9.3 million.
Two of those four lakes are inside the city, Kedron at about 240 acres and roughly a billion gallons, Peachtree at about 270 acres, and McIntosh, about 650 acres and opened in 2013, alone sends 10.4 million gallons a day to Crosstown.
Treated surface water changes with the season and with which lake the county is drawing from, so a refrigerator filter or a dishwasher inlet valve does not scale on a fixed schedule here.

Unlike the unincorporated county around Fayetteville, Peachtree City is on central sewer. The Peachtree City Water and Sewerage Authority runs two plants, Rockaway, built in 1988 and permitted for 4 million gallons a day into Line Creek, and the Line Creek plant at 2 million, six million gallons a day combined.
