🔧 208 Jobs Across Three ZIP Codes 🏠 195 Households in 28227 · 28215 · 28212 💰 $304 Median With a Part Replaced 🧺 The Washer Is the Number One Machine Here 🛡️ 90-Day Parts and Labor Warranty

Appliance repair in Mint Hill and east Charlotte runs a median of $304 once a part is replaced, with the middle half of jobs between $241 and $330. That is our own figure from 208 work orders inside ZIP codes 28227, 28215 and 28212 — 162 paid visits and 98 jobs where a real component came out of the van.

This is also the one part of Charlotte where the washer, not the refrigerator, is the machine we are called to most: 37 washer jobs against 33 refrigerator jobs, which happens nowhere else in our book.

Appliance Repair — Mint Hill, 28227, 28215 and 28212

One number covers all three ZIP codes at the same price list, whether your address says Mint Hill or Charlotte. The $99 diagnostic is applied to the repair when you approve it, and every completed job carries a 90-day parts and labor warranty.

What Appliance Repair Costs Here, by Machine

Every figure below is the full ticket — the part, the labour and the service call together, which is the number that lands on your bill rather than the price of a component on a parts website.

The source column tells you whether the median comes from our own jobs in these three ZIP codes or from the whole company, and the job count tells you how much weight it carries.

Where the local sample is too thin to publish, we say so in the row instead of dressing it up.

Two rows need a caveat. The oven median of $340 rests on seven local component jobs, which is thin enough that the company figure of $380 is equally reasonable to budget against. The ice maker and freezer row has exactly one local component job behind it, at $484, so we publish no local price there at all — one invoice is an anecdote, not a median.

The stacked washer-dryer and double wall oven diagnostic is $150 rather than $99, because both are two machines sharing one cabinet.

💡 The cross-town test. Median home values in these three ZIP codes run $266,900 in 28212, $315,000 in 28215 and $349,700 in 28227, per zip-codes.com. Across town in the SouthPark and Providence ZIP codes they run $531,700 to $774,900 — two to nearly three times higher. Our median repair ticket with a part replaced is $304 here and $320 there. A five percent difference.

That is the same result we have now found in four separate markets, and it is worth stating plainly because a lot of people assume the opposite before they call. Housing value between neighbourhoods moves by 100 percent or more; the repair bill moves by single digits.

What sets the price is which component failed and how long it takes to fit, and neither of those reads a postcode. The one place a real difference does show up is the mix of machines, not the price of them — the SouthPark cluster runs to built-in Bosch and KitchenAid dishwashers and integrated refrigeration, while three quarters of the branded work here is GE, Whirlpool, Samsung and Frigidaire.

Same faults, same hourly rate, different appliances. Our figures for the other side of town are on the SouthPark and Providence hub.

Why Mint Hill and East Charlotte Appliances Fail the Way They Do

One ZIP code, two identities — and the Postal Service accepts both 79 MINT HILL · 44 CHARLOTTE

Of our 123 work orders inside 28227, 79 are written Mint Hill and 44 are written Charlotte. That is not a paperwork error: the Postal Service lists Charlotte as the primary city for 28227 and Mint Hill as an accepted alternative name, so both are correct on an envelope.

28215 and 28212 have no alternative name at all and all 85 of our orders there say Charlotte. If your address says Mint Hill, this is your page; if it says Charlotte and your ZIP code is 28227, 28215 or 28212, it is also your page. The price list does not change between them.

The washer is the number one machine here, which happens nowhere else 30.3 PERCENT AGAINST 22.4

Of the 122 jobs in these ZIP codes where the paperwork names an appliance, 37 are washers and 33 are refrigerators. Company-wide the refrigerator leads by a wide margin, 37.2 percent to 22.4. This is the only cluster in our Charlotte book where that order reverses.

The catch is on the next card: the washer is also the machine here least likely to actually be broken when we arrive. Detail on the washer page.

Two machines that almost always end with a part fitted, and one that often does not 84 PERCENT AGAINST 52 PERCENT

One hundred and nine of 162 paid visits here ended with a part fitted, 67.3 percent overall, but the spread by machine is the widest we have seen anywhere. Refrigerators: 21 of 25 paid visits ended with a part fitted, 16.0 percent, against 35.2 percent company-wide. Dryers: 2 of 13, 15.4 percent.

Washers: 15 of 31, 48.4 percent, against 41.0 percent company-wide. Ovens: 38.5 percent. In other words a refrigerator or dryer call from this area is nearly always a real fault, and a washer call is a coin-toss — which is why the washer page opens with four checks rather than a price.

The brand mix is mass-market, and that is good news for scheduling 90 OF 120 BRANDED

Of 120 branded work orders here, GE accounts for 31, Whirlpool 26, Samsung 21 and Frigidaire 12 — 90 of 120 between them, three quarters, with Maytag 9, LG 7 and small counts of KitchenAid, Kenmore, Amana, Roper, Hotpoint, Thermador and Bosch behind. One single Bosch job in the entire cluster, against 15 across town in SouthPark.

Common failure parts for GE, Whirlpool, Samsung, Frigidaire and Maytag ride on the van, so first-visit completion here is high. This is a record of how often we are called to a brand, not a reliability ranking — that question is handled on most reliable appliance brands.

98 of our 162 paid visits in these three ZIP codes ended with a real part replaced. Mint Hill and east Charlotte, same price list. Book online or call (252) 629-9832.

All three20852$304 (n=98)67.3%62,386

Housing unit counts and median home values come from zip-codes.com; the job columns are ours. Read that table alongside the point above: 28227 has homes worth a third more than 28212 and a median repair ticket $14 higher — five percent, against a 31 percent gap in house prices.

The ZIP codes are also very different sizes on the ground. 28227 covers 40.2 square miles reaching into Union County, 28215 covers 28.9 and touches Cabarrus County, while 28212 packs 41,009 people into 9.2 square miles. That affects how we route a day, not what you pay.

What the Cluster Covers

The three ZIP codes together hold 159,977 people and 62,386 housing units across 78.2 square miles on the eastern side of Mecklenburg County, running from the dense inner-ring housing of 28212 out through 28215 to the semi-rural edges of 28227 where the ZIP code crosses into Union County.

There is no travel surcharge between any two addresses in the cluster, but the size is real and it affects timing rather than price: an address at the far eastern edge of 28227 and one just off Independence Boulevard in 28212 are a serious drive apart, so book early in the day if you are toward the county line.

Match Your Machine to the Right Page

  • Will not spin, will not drain, walking across the floor, error code — 37 local jobs, the biggest sample here, median $270 with a part, and a 51.6 percent part-fitted share. Read the four checks the technician runs first on washer repair in Mint Hill and east Charlotte.
  • Fresh food warming while the freezer stays cold, frost on the back wall, water on the floor — 33 local jobs, median $308, and only 84 percent of visits end with a part fitted wrong. Go to refrigerator repair.
  • Not draining, not cleaning, leaking at the door — 19 local jobs, median $270 and the cheapest machine to have repaired here. Go to dishwasher repair.
  • Oven runs hot or cold, burner will not light, bake element out — 15 local jobs. Run the free thermometer test on the oven and range page when you book.
  • Not drying in one cycle, no heat, drum will not turn — 14 local jobs and the lowest part-fitted share of 84.6 percent. Go to dryer repair.
  • Ice maker stopped, chest or upright freezer not freezing — only 4 local jobs, so this page runs on company figures and says so. Go to ice maker and freezer repair.
Two checks before any call. First, a thermometer left inside the fridge for a few hours beats the display on the door — 37 to 40°F in the fresh food section and 0°F in the freezer. Second, pull the machine out and look: a condenser coil packed with dust imitates a dying compressor, a kinked drain hose imitates a failed pump, and a blocked dryer vent imitates a burnt-out heating element. One hundred and nine of our paid visits here ended with a part fitted, and these checks are the cheapest way to land in that number.

That list is the clearest single difference between this cluster and the SouthPark one across town, where Bosch alone accounts for 15 jobs and premium built-ins are close to a third of the branded refrigeration. Here there is one Bosch job in 208.

The practical consequence is not about quality, it is about speed: GE, Whirlpool, Samsung, Frigidaire and Maytag failure components ride on the van, so most repairs here finish on the first visit rather than waiting on an ordered part.

Two Roper washers in the book, incidentally, is a reminder of how long budget machines stay in service when somebody keeps repairing them.

Repair or Replace, in Mint Hill and East Charlotte Numbers

At a median of $304 with a part replaced, repair wins comfortably on almost everything here — a mid-market washer, dryer or dishwasher installed and hauled away runs several times that. Two situations genuinely turn. Sealed-system refrigerator work at a company median of $956 for a compressor, where close to half the households we quote go ahead, and that is usually the right call.

And a large repair on a machine already carrying a second developing fault, where we would rather put both numbers in front of you than sell the first one. Our framework for the decision is the repair or replace guide, with expected service life by machine in how long washing machines last.

Appliance Repair in Mint Hill and East Charlotte — Questions We Get

How much does appliance repair cost in Mint Hill and east Charlotte?

The median is $304 once a part is replaced, parts and labour and the service call together, with the middle half of jobs between $241 and $330. That comes from 98 component replacements out of 162 paid visits across ZIP codes 28227, 28215 and 28212.

By machine, our local medians are $270 for a dishwasher, $270 for a washer, $275 for a dryer, $308 for a refrigerator and $340 for an oven or range. A visit where nothing needs replacing is the $99 diagnostic and nothing else.

Is Mint Hill the same as Charlotte for booking?

For us, yes — same price list, same technicians, same phone number. On paper it is more interesting. The Postal Service lists Charlotte as the primary city for ZIP code 28227 and Mint Hill as an accepted alternative name, so both are correct on an envelope, and our own records reflect that split exactly: 79 of our 123 work orders in 28227 say Mint Hill and 44 say Charlotte.

ZIP codes 28215 and 28212 have no alternative name and all 85 of our orders there say Charlotte.

Why is the washer your most common call here?

We do not have a proven explanation, and we are not going to invent one. What we can show is the fact: of 122 classified jobs in these ZIP codes, 37 are washers and 33 are refrigerators, whereas company-wide the refrigerator leads by 37.2 percent to 22.4.

This is the only cluster in our Charlotte book where that order reverses. The important caveat is that washer calls here are also the least likely to find a fault — 51.6 percent of paid washer visits end with a part fitted.

What do I pay if the machine does not need a part?

Fifty-three of 162 paid visits in this cluster, which is 32.7 percent against 36.9 percent company-wide. The spread by machine is unusually wide here: 15.4 percent on dryers and 16.0 percent on refrigerators, against 27.8 percent on dishwashers, 38.5 percent on ovens and 48.4 percent on washers.

In those cases you pay the $99 diagnostic and nothing else. A washer call is where the checks matter most — level the machine, unkink the drain hose, clear the pump filter and open both taps fully.

Are repairs cheaper here than in south Charlotte?

Barely, and that is the interesting part. Our median with a part replaced is $304 in these three ZIP codes and $320 in the SouthPark and Providence ZIP codes — about five percent. Median home values in the two areas differ by two to nearly three times, from $266,900 here at the low end to $774,900 there at the high end, per zip-codes.com.

We have run the same comparison in four markets now and the answer is always the same: what sets the bill is the component that failed and the hour it takes to fit, not the neighbourhood.

Which appliance brands do you see most in these ZIP codes?

Of 120 branded work orders: GE 31, Whirlpool 26, Samsung 21, Frigidaire 12, Maytag 9, LG 7, three each of KitchenAid, Kenmore and Amana, two Roper, and one each of Thermador, Bosch and Hotpoint. Those first four brands are three quarters of the branded work between them.

It means most repairs here finish on the first visit, because those failure parts travel on the van. This reflects how often we are called to a brand, not how reliable it is.

Is there a busy season for breakdowns here?

Not one we can prove, and we would rather say so. Across years our 208 jobs run 45 in 2023, 76 in 2024, 56 in 2025 and 31 so far in 2026 — and 2024 contains a month with no jobs at all while another month has fifteen.

A gap like that is a record of where our vans were routed, not of when machines stopped working. Any month-by-month claim built on this pool would be describing our scheduling. We will publish a seasonal answer for this cluster after a clean full year of even coverage.

How quickly can you get to an address here?

Same-day is realistic if you book early in the day, and refrigerator and freezer calls get priority over everything else because food loss is on the clock.

Position matters for the slot rather than the price: the three ZIP codes cover 78.2 square miles and 28227 alone runs 40 of those, reaching into Union County, so an address near the county line may be an afternoon appointment. There is no travel surcharge anywhere inside the cluster.
