An oven that heats slowly and stops short, like the LG that held at about 150 degrees, is a different case from one that stays completely cold. The technician measures the cavity temperature against the setting, reads any stored codes and meters the sensor before pricing anything. The sensor and the element are $32 apart; the board costs $118 more than the sensor and $150 more than the element.

Burners and Cooktops

Cooktop trouble has its own short list. Gas burners that spark without catching, or catch and die, point the technician at three parts on that burner: its switch, its spark module and its igniter. On an electric or glass cooktop, a surface element that stays cold sends the test to the element, its switch and the board that controls it. At our company medians a spark module repair is $358, an igniter $352 and a switch, knob or touchpad $349, part, labor and visit together. Cooktop-only bookings come to $339 on the company list.
