What is different about the ice side is the first row: a frozen fill tube cleared, at $393, is a repair where nothing is replaced at all and the labor is the whole bill. The garage freezer is the hardest-worked appliance in a Dallas house RECORD 110 °F
Almost every address we work here is a single-family house with an attached garage, 87 percent of the housing stock on the north side of town is single-family, and a very large share of those garages hold a chest freezer or an upright. An ice maker that produces nothing has four usual causes and they are cheap to separate but impossible to separate remotely. The fill tube can be frozen solid, at $393 to clear. The water inlet valve can have failed, at $428. The ice maker module itself, the motor and thermostat assembly that harvests the cubes, can have failed, at $449.
Or the freezer simply is not cold enough to trigger a harvest, which sends the diagnosis back to the defrost system or the compressor.
