What the symptom usually means

Most calls start with one sentence: it does not cool, it does not spin, it does not heat. Here is what each of those normally turns out to be, and roughly what the finished job costs. The figures are medians from our own completed repairs — the part, the labor and the service call together.

Fridge is warm, freezer is cold

The freezer is making cold and it is not reaching the fresh side. That is an evaporator fan, a blocked defrost drain, or a defrost system that stopped cycling. A dead compressor gives a different picture: nothing cold anywhere.

Median refrigerator repair: $394.

Washer will not drain or will not spin

A drain pump jammed with a coin or a sock, a blocked hose, a lid switch or door lock that never tells the board the machine is closed, or a control board mishandling the drain step. The drum full of water at the end of a cycle is the tell.

Median washer repair: $358.

Dryer turns but the clothes stay wet

On electric, a burnt heating element or a blown thermal fuse. On gas, an igniter that no longer lights the burner. If the drum is hot but loads take three cycles, the vent line is packed with lint, and that is a fire risk as much as a laundry problem.

Median dryer repair: $355.

Dishwasher runs but the dishes come out dirty

Spray arm holes blocked with scale and food, a tired circulation pump, or a filter nobody has cleaned in a year. If it also will not drain, that is the drain pump or the hose.

Median dishwasher repair: $335.

Oven bakes at the wrong temperature

The dial says 350°F and the food says otherwise. Usually a drifting temperature sensor or a calibration that has slipped, sometimes an element that heats on one side only. On gas, a weak igniter shows up first as a burner that lights late with a small pop.

Median oven and range repair: $380.

Cooktop burner will not light or will not hold a low flame

On gas, carbon in the burner ports or a spark module that has given up. On electric and induction, a burnt element or a control board that has lost a zone. Cracked glass is its own job: the whole top is replaced as an assembly.

Median cooktop repair: $338.

Ice maker stopped making ice

A water inlet valve scaled shut, a frozen fill tube, a filter packed with grit, or a shut-off arm stuck up telling the machine the bin is full. Hard water makes all four arrive sooner.

Median ice maker repair: $426.

Those numbers are middles, not caps. Half of the jobs on each appliance came in under, half above. A seal or a switch is far cheaper. A sealed system or a control board on a premium built-in is far dearer. The tests on the visit pin your exact figure, and you see it in writing before anything is opened.

What a visit costs and what it buys

The service call is $99, and it comes off the bill the moment you approve the repair. For a stacked washer-dryer combo or a double oven it is $150, because those are two machines in one cabinet and both have to come apart before anything can be tested.

Whatever you decide afterwards, the $99 leaves you with something concrete: the fault named, the part identified, the repair price in writing, and the cost of a comparable new machine set beside it.

Veterans and seniors take $30 off any repair, and new customers save $20 on a first service. If several appliances in the house are of an age, the $179 membership covers five diagnostics a year and $30 off labor on every visit.

Which brands we carry parts for

Whirlpool, Samsung, GE, LG, Frigidaire, Maytag, Bosch, KitchenAid, Kenmore, Amana and Electrolux ride in the van as standard parts, which is why most repairs finish on the first visit.

Premium built-ins — Sub-Zero, Wolf, Thermador, Viking, Miele, Gaggenau, JennAir — are a different band of work and a different band of price: our techs carry maker training for them, and the parts are ordered genuine. What those repairs actually run is on our luxury repair cost page.

Where we work

Atlanta GA, Tampa FL, Jacksonville FL, Miami FL, Charlotte NC, Philadelphia PA, Dallas TX and Houston TX, with the suburbs around each. The service area page lists the ZIP codes if you are on the edge of a metro.

Same-day slots open every morning. Booking early gives the best chance of one today, and the form shows what is genuinely free rather than promising a window we cannot hold.

After the repair

Every completed job carries 90 days on parts and labor. If the same fault returns inside that window, the return visit costs you nothing. The invoice lists the part, the labor and the warranty, with the $99 shown as a credit, so there is nothing on it you have not already seen.
