Appliance down in Augusta or Aiken?

Call and the dispatcher gives you the first open slot on the Augusta route. The 99 dollar diagnostic comes off the bill when you approve the repair.

What appliance repair costs in Augusta

We run one price list in every market, and Augusta gets the same one Atlanta does. The figures below are full bills, meaning the part, the labor and the service call together, taken from completed repairs where a part was actually installed. A quarter of jobs came in under the low end of each range and a quarter above the high end; the middle half sits between them.

ApplianceMedian full repairMiddle half of billsRepairs behind the figure
Refrigerator390 dollars315 to 498 dollars4,961
Washer365 dollars307 to 427 dollars2,770
Dishwasher330 dollars274 to 400 dollars2,160
Oven or range375 dollars300 to 482 dollars1,858
Dryer348 dollars295 to 406 dollars1,301
Freezer375 dollars295 to 492 dollars263
Ice maker425 dollars332 to 624 dollars181
Cooktop325 dollars251 to 475 dollars107

The dishwasher at 330 dollars is the cheapest common repair on the list, and the refrigerator at 390 is the one people call about most. The ice maker sits highest at 425 because the fault is often a module or a valve buried behind the freezer wall, and the spread on it is wide: a quarter of ice maker bills ran above 624 dollars.

Those medians are a guide, not a quote. Two refrigerators with the same symptom can need parts that differ by a few hundred dollars, which is why the number you get at the door comes after the test, not before it. There is no extra trip charge for Grovetown, Hephzibah, Harlem or Aiken on top of the price you are quoted.

Where in the Augusta area we go

The Augusta route covers the Richmond County side of the river and the towns around it, plus the city of Aiken in South Carolina. In practice that means:

  • Downtown and the older city: 30901, the blocks around Broad Street and the riverfront, and 30904, Summerville and the Hill.
  • West Augusta and Martinez: 30907 and 30909, the Washington Road and Wheeler Road corridors and the subdivisions off Bobby Jones Expressway.
  • South Augusta and Hephzibah: 30906 and 30815, down Peach Orchard Road and Windsor Spring Road.
  • Grovetown and Fort Eisenhower: Grovetown 30813, the newest housing on the Georgia side, and the post at 30905.
  • The outer towns: Harlem 30814, Blythe 30805, Dearing 30808, Gracewood 30812, Matthews 30818 and Waynesboro 30830.
  • Aiken, South Carolina: 29801 and 29803, the historic downtown and the south side toward Silver Bluff Road.

Old Summerville houses, new Grovetown kitchens

The single most useful thing to know about Augusta appliances is how far apart the housing is in age. The Census Bureau’s American Community Survey for 2020 to 2024 puts the median year a home was built in each postcode, and the gap across this one metro is more than fifty years.

PostcodeAreaMedian year builtMedian home value
30904Summerville, the Hill1955199,200 dollars
30901Downtown Augusta1962104,000 dollars
30906South Augusta1975124,700 dollars
29801Aiken, north and downtown1983174,100 dollars
30907Martinez, West Augusta1986242,100 dollars
30815Hephzibah1991188,600 dollars
30909West Augusta1992242,400 dollars
29803Aiken, south side1995298,800 dollars
30813Grovetown2008287,600 dollars

That spread changes what a technician finds when he opens the appliance. In a 1955 Summerville kitchen the range is often freestanding and gas, the dryer vents through a long run to an outside wall that was never designed for a modern dryer, and the dishwasher was fitted into a cabinet opening long after the house was built. The repairs there tend to be mechanical: the oven igniter that glows but will not light the burner, the dryer that runs hot and trips its thermal fuse because the vent is choked, the dishwasher drain pump clogged by an older disposal.

In Grovetown, where half the homes were built in 2008 or later, the appliances are younger and the faults are more often electronic. Control boards, sensors and the door-mounted ice systems on French-door refrigerators are what fail first on that generation of machine, and those parts cost more. Across our completed repairs, an oven igniter replacement has a median full bill of 350 dollars, and an oven control board 469. On refrigerators the gap is wider: a temperature sensor runs a median of 370 dollars, a control board 510.

Neither group is the cheap one. Older houses add labor because nothing comes apart the way it would on a new machine, and newer ones add parts cost because the part is a circuit board instead of a switch. What the table does tell you is that a quote of 500 dollars in Grovetown and 330 in Summerville can both be fair prices for the same complaint.

Canal water, river water and well water

Augusta Utilities draws most of its supply from the Savannah River. Raw water runs down the historic Augusta Canal to the Highland Avenue plant, which has a design capacity of 60 million gallons a day. The N. Max Hicks plant, opened in 2005, also treats river water for south Richmond County. On top of that, 28 wells pump from the Cretaceous Aquifer, hundreds of feet under south Augusta, averaging about 15 million gallons a day.

Across the river, the City of Aiken draws its surface water from Shaws Creek, backed by four well systems and a spring-fed collection system, and broke ground on a new 8 million gallon a day treatment plant at Shaws Creek in December 2024.

The reason this matters to an appliance is that a refrigerator water valve, a dishwasher inlet valve and a washer fill valve all meet that water at the same point, the small screen and solenoid where the supply line connects. Where groundwater is part of the mix, minerals build up at that point over the years. The symptom is slow: an ice maker that makes smaller and smaller cubes, a dishwasher that leaves a film because it is not filling fully, a washer that takes too long to fill and throws an error.

A dishwasher water inlet valve replacement has a median full bill of 330 dollars across our completed repairs, and a refrigerator ice maker module 470. On the visit the technician checks the screen and the valve before the module, because a clogged valve can make a healthy ice maker look broken.

Augusta summers and the refrigerator

July in Augusta averages a high of about 92 degrees, with the humidity of the Savannah River valley. A refrigerator has to push the heat it pulls out of the food into the room around it, and on a hot afternoon in a kitchen without strong air conditioning, or in a garage, it runs almost without stopping.

Two parts take most of that load. The condenser fan, under the back of the unit, moves room air across the coils; when it slows or stops, the fridge warms up slowly over a day or two. Across our completed repairs it has a median full bill of 383 dollars. The evaporator fan, inside the freezer, moves cold air into the fresh-food side; when it fails the freezer stays cold and the fridge side does not. Its median is 426 dollars.

The expensive end is the compressor. Its median full bill is 580 dollars, but the spread is wide and a quarter of compressor jobs ran above 1,200 dollars. On a refrigerator past about fifteen years old, that is where the technician will give you both numbers, the repair and the cost of a comparable replacement, so the decision is yours with the facts in front of you.

If the refrigerator lives in the garage, the summer load is heavier still, and so is a cold snap in January, when a garage fridge can stop running its compressor because the room is colder than the thermostat expects. Both are worth mentioning when you call, because they change what the technician checks first.

Aiken is on the same route and the same price list

Aiken calls are booked through the same dispatcher and priced from the same list as Augusta. There is no state-line surcharge for crossing the river, the 99 dollar diagnostic is the same, and the warranty on the repair is the same. If you live in Aiken and searched for appliance repair in Augusta because that is where you expected a company to be based, you are in the right place.

What happens on the visit

  • The call. Tell the dispatcher the appliance, the brand if you know it, and what it is doing. The model number from the sticker inside the door or on the back helps the technician bring the right part.
  • The test. The technician runs the appliance and tests the parts before quoting. You will hear what failed and why, not a guess.
  • The price. You get the full total, part and labor together, before any work starts. The 99 dollar diagnostic comes off that total when you approve.
  • The repair. Common parts are fitted on the first visit. When a part has to be ordered, the return visit is booked before the technician leaves.
  • The guarantee. Parts and labor carry a 90-day guarantee. If the same fault comes back inside that window, the return visit is on us.

Augusta appliance repair questions

How much does appliance repair cost in Augusta, GA?

Augusta uses the same price list as every Bozmanfix market. Across completed repairs where a part was installed, the median full bill, part, labor and service call together, is 390 dollars for a refrigerator, 365 for a washer, 348 for a dryer, 375 for an oven or range and 330 for a dishwasher. The 99 dollar diagnostic comes off the bill when you approve the repair.

Do you repair appliances in Aiken, SC as well as Augusta?

Yes. Aiken postcodes 29801 and 29803 are on the Augusta route, booked through the same dispatcher at the same prices, with no surcharge for crossing the state line.

Which parts of Augusta do you cover?

Downtown and Summerville, West Augusta and Martinez, South Augusta and Hephzibah, Grovetown and Fort Eisenhower, and the outer towns of Harlem, Blythe, Dearing, Gracewood, Matthews and Waynesboro. For Evans, North Augusta or an address between those areas, call with the street address and the dispatcher will book the earliest slot that reaches it.

What does the 99 dollar diagnostic include?

A technician comes to the house, tests the appliance, identifies the failed part and gives you the full price of the repair before any work starts. When you approve the repair, the 99 dollars is credited against the total.

Why is my refrigerator not cooling in the summer?

With July highs around 92 degrees in Augusta, a refrigerator in a warm kitchen or a garage runs close to nonstop, and the condenser fan and the evaporator fan carry most of that load. A failing condenser fan has a median full repair of 383 dollars across our completed jobs and an evaporator fan 426. A compressor failure costs more, with a median of 580 dollars.

Why does my ice maker make small cubes or stop filling?

The most common cause is a restricted water inlet valve or screen, where minerals in the supply build up over time, rather than a failed ice maker. The technician checks the valve first. When the module itself has failed, its median full replacement is 470 dollars across our completed repairs.

Is it worth repairing an appliance in an older Augusta home?

Usually yes. In older neighborhoods like Summerville, where the median home was built in 1955, the faults are more often mechanical parts such as igniters, drain pumps and thermal fuses, which are one-visit repairs. The exception is a refrigerator past about fifteen years with a failed compressor, where the technician gives you the repair price and the replacement cost side by side.

Do you offer a military discount in Augusta?

Yes. Veterans take 30 dollars off every repair, seniors take 30 dollars off, and new customers take 20 dollars off their first repair. The discount is applied automatically when the job is closed.

Is the repair guaranteed?

Yes. Parts and labor carry a 90-day guarantee. If the same fault returns inside that period, the return visit and the repair are covered.
